T.M. Brown
Featured Author
T. M. Brown, Mike to friends and family, embraces his Georgia heritage, thanks to the paternal branches of his family tree. Mike recalls his childhood when on many warm Sunday afternoons his father drove the family beyond Stone Mountain to his Great-Uncle’s farm. Though the dust-filled, red clay back roads beyond Snellville, GA have long become paved thoroughfares for decades, Mike fondly recalls getting bitten by barbwire pasture fences, sipping cool well-water from a ladle, and getting scrubbed in a washtub near the front stoop of Uncle Kerry’s and Aunt Monk’s old farmhouse. Retired since 2014 from the 9-to-5 life, Mike and his wife Connie reside below Atlanta near Newnan, Georgia. Creating his fictional rural town of Shiloh and its cast of memorable characters has conjured up many near-forgotten memories, and thanks to recollections of his Pop and Poppa, the truth they espoused to Mike as a young man resonates in his stories — “The testament of a man lies not in the magnitude of possessions and property left to his heirs, but the reach of his legacy long after his death.” Sanctuary, the first of the Shiloh stories, launched April 2017, and became Sanctuary, A Legacy of Memories (January 2018), the first in the Shiloh Mystery Series. Testament, An Unexpected Return followed in April 2018. Purgatory, A Progeny’s Quest will conclude the Shiloh Mystery Series. Although Mike promises that Theo and Liddy Phillips will find their way into new stories about their further adventures soon. Mike's love for writing Southern novels continues with his first historical novel about Randolph Spalding of Sapelo Island/Darien, Georgia at the outbreak of the War Between the States. What had been a genteel and successful lifestyle inherited from his famous father, Thomas Spalding, the founder of South End on Sapelo Island, Randolph reluctantly joins Georgia's militia as the Union blockade threatens the southern coastline in 1861. As the new regimental commander, Colonel Spalding races to complete his last harvest while relocating his family and then his slaves as militia arrive on the island. Unfortunately, tragedy strikes on the island just before Colonel Spalding faces a bloody battle on Hilton Head...You'll have to wait to learn more. Com-ing soon.
