Johnathon Barrett

Johnathon Scott Barrett is a seventh-generation Georgian who has a deep appreciation for both the literary and culinary traditions of the South. He is the author of three widely acclaimed cookbooks - Rise and Shine!, Cook & Tell, and Cook & Celebrate (all by Mercer University Press) which critics hailed for their content of entertaining stories as well as extensive recipes. Keeping with this affinity for the intersection of food and the written narrative, recipes from an entire fabulously described meal appear in his first work of fiction, Ship Watch (Moonshine Cove Publishing, Inc. Dec, 2023). Besides writing, Johnathon is a CPA and has worked as a nonprofit executive for the last three decades. Currently, he is the director of development for the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at UGA. He splits his time between homes in Winterville, Georgia and Savannah.
